about Nyesha Stone
WHO IS NYESHA STONE?
I often ask people I am interviewing, “What do you want to be known for?” Not for what you do but who you are. This usually makes the interviewee stop and think, and as I am writing this, I am doing the same. My typical bio states my name, what I do, what I’ve accomplished, and all the polished things we all work so hard to attain. But for my first personal website, I wanted to use this section to show I am just a Black kid from the Northside of Milwaukee who knew she wanted a life she had never seen before. Those visions led me to become a caring woman who constantly gives back to her community. I do this through the written word, interviews, community events, and by always being myself. Yes, I think it’s important you know that I have been running my own positive news company, Carvd N Stone, since 2017. I’ve done so many amazing things through Carvd N Stone. I’ve awarded scholarships, grants, taught journalism classes, interviewed celebrities I grew up watching on screens…I was even able to move from my hometown to my dream state of Georgia. Awards, newspaper mentions, and honestly, none of that compares to who I want to be known for. When it’s all said and done, I want people to remember Nyesha Stone for my kindness, my willingness to keep fighting for what I believe is right, and my acceptance of all of me. So yeah, I am a journalist, a founder, a CEO, a business owner, a nonprofit president, a college graduate, a sister, a daughter, a friend, but most importantly, I’m just Nyesha :)
