Journalism classes
I have taught more than 100 students the fundamentals of journalism and storytelling through semester-long courses, multi-week workshops, and one-time interactive sessions. My classes cover a range of topics, including interviewing, article writing, journalism basics, storytelling, and communication skills, while helping participants build confidence in sharing their own stories. I've worked with justice-impacted students, middle and high school students, college students, small business owners, nonprofit leaders, and community organizations, tailoring each experience to the needs and goals of every audience.
St. Joan Antida High School Journalism Course
I was hired to teach a journalism course at St. Joan Antida High School for a semester. The school was an all-girls high school. My course taught the young ladies about journalism, why it’s important, the different fields in the industry, and how to interview. At the end of the course, I brought in a justice-impacted community member who turned his life around to help others who have also been justice-impacted. The students conducted a live interview with him while taking notes. From the interview, the students produced a written article about his life for my positive news company, Carvd N Stone.
